Very bright house in BREST, France
Our house was built in the 1950’s and was fully renovated during the last 10 years. It has 3 storeys (ground floor, 1st floor and attic) and a closed garden.
At the ground floor are located the kitchen and the living room. This floor leads directly to the garden, where you can enjoy eating in the open air in summertime and where children can play freely on the grass.
At the 1st floor are located the children’s and parents’ rooms and the bathroom.
And in the attic, you will find a study room, a guest room and another bathroom.
Rooms on the street side of the house also have a view over the sea.

We live in the very city of Brest, in a part of it called Saint-Marc, which is very residential and quiet. Our street being a one-way street, we don’t have much traffic. And our neighbours are very peaceful people too!
So if you happen to spend a while in our house, you shouldn’t be bothered by the noise.
Brest is a city of about 150.000 inhabitants, comprising around 300.000 people with the whole agglomeration. It’s the second city of Brittany (Bretagne in French), which is the westernmost region of France. This place has much to offer, thanks to its cultural heritage and its beautiful geography.
If you want to know more about Brittany, you can have a look at this site: http://www.brittanytourism.com/
There is a lot to do and discover as far as cultural activities, museums, dancing, singing and eating are concerned.
As far as nature is concerned, Brest is set in a beautiful bay and is surrounded by beaches, cliffs, green hills and landscapes.

About Our Family
We are a family of 4: Tatjana, 49, Gilles, 55, Ael 13 and Emil 11.
Tatjana teaches French, Literature, Drama and Communication to High School students and is also specialised in teaching French to foreigners.
Gilles works for a computer services company as a project manager.
Ael and Emil are going to secondary school . They both seem very happy there. They are very sportive boys (hand ball, swimming, kung fu and scuba diving) and like practicing some music instruments (Irish flute and Scottish bagpipes while Emil plays Irish flute and piano).
Discovering other cultures and regions is our biggest passion. That’s why we spend our free time in travelling all around the world, always with our boys !
We have made 10 successful exchanges and are really enjoying this type of sustainable travelling.
We love discovering other cultures a lot, either by the means of learning languages or by travelling, watching movies, going to the theatre, playing and listening to music or even reading.
Practising sports also belongs to our favourite activities : running and swimming mainly. Every week we go to the pool with our boys, who enjoy it very much. And in Summer, we try and take advantage of the beaches that are next to Brest to have a swim in the ocean.
As a leisure we also take care of our garden, trying to keep the plants and trees under minimal control.
We don’t have pets, even though we like animals !
We’ve travelled a lot around Europe (Western, Southern, Northern, Central Europe and Balkans mainly) and in other parts of the world (Canada, USA, Russia, Japan, Mexico, Mauritius, New Zealand, Thailand, Vietnam, Senegal, Tunisia).
When Ael was 1,5 we had the opportunity to visit Japan and stay in a house in Kyoto for 3 weeks, which proved great to discover a place extensively, while being comfortable enough to attend to a child’s needs. Since then we’re keen on renewing this kind of experience in order to discover different places.
We have swapped houses 9 times before through Intervac (Denmark, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Spain and Quebec, England, Austria). It was a great experience and we're ready to renew this adventure.
