A lovely old dykehouse in the northern part of Amsterdam

The house is situated in a lovely , beautiful and quiet location. Amsterdam city center is in reach within fifteen minutes by bus, or by bike. Amsterdam is a beautiful city, with its canals, its old houses, its museums like the Rijksmuseum with a lot of Rembrandtpaintings, the Van Goghmuseum, the Stedelijk museum ( modern art) and the Amsterdam museum. There is of course the Anne Frank house and a lot of beautiful squares and parks such as the Vondelpark. The children can visit Nemo, a science museum, the scheepvaartmuseum with historical ships that can be visited, the Tropenmuseum with a special kids exhibition and of course the Amsterdam Zoo called Artis. North of Amsterdam you will find many old fishermenvillages like Volendam, Edam, Marken and Broek in Waterland. They are very much worthwhile visiting. In this area you can find a lot of cycle paths and you can make rural walks. The Northsea beach can be reached within 45 minutes by car. Interesting cities to visit are Delft, Leiden, Haarlem, Gouda, Alkmaar, Den Haag and Utrecht. You can get there within an hour by car or train. The Netherlands are a small country. The borders with Belgium and Germany can be reached in 90 minutes by car.

There is enough parkingspace in front of the house, and parking is free. The house comes with a garden at the back of the property. You can sit here privately in the morning and afternoon to enjoy the sun. There is a balcony attached to the livingroom and the kitchen. In front of the house ,on the grass ,you can enjoy a beautiful sunset in summer. There is a picknicktable you can use to have your supper.

The house has 3 bedrooms in which 6 persons can sleep in three double beds One of them is a sofa that can be turned into a double bed. There are two bathrooms (one bathroom ensuite with a bath and a separate shower) and a toilet on every floor. The livingroom has a big fireplace and the kitchen is very well equiped.
There are two bikes available.

About Our Family

Anita and I live alone in the house ever since our two kids left the house to live on their own. Fortunately they live nearby, so we see them regularly. Anita is a highschoolteacher for children who can not go to school because of in illness and I was headmaster of a primaryschool in Amsterdam but I am retired now. We love to read ,make walks in nature and watch birds. But we also like visiting cities and eat in nice restaurants.
