It may also be for 10 days or so. We are open for suggestions. We have now made an exchange from 6th - 13th of September with Iceland

House in Herning, Denmark

Our house is about 100 years old. Its has been renovated several times - the latest was a new bathroom 2009  - and  it is both a charming and a modern place to live. We have a big wonderfull garden changing through all seasons with flowers, trees, herbs and fruits. Just outside the windows is a small field, where a few horses belonging to our neighbours have their place. We have a big cat, which we would like you to take care of.
In our garden is a small house, in which we have a B&B. In this house there are 2-4 beds. We call it The Gardenhouse. If you are interested you can stay there non-simultaneously.
Our home is situated in the countryside at a gravel road10 km from the center of Herning a modern city only a little more than a hundred years of age. In Herning you can visit some exstraordinay modern Art-Museums ( ex. Karl Henning Pedersen) or some of the many fashion shops with danish design clothing. Or you can visit cafés in town centre.
We like a lot to be in our home and enjoy the garden during the changing hours of the day. And we like very much to make short or long excursions into nature, to the sea, which can be the ever wonderfully changing Westcoast of Jutland or the more quiet 'Limfjord' or to other places or cities in Jutland. From our home to Legoland there is about 60 km. This place is a MUST if you have children with you. But there would be so many other places of interest depending on who you are and what you like....

About Our Family

We are Jan and Gerda who are in our seventies. We would be travelling 1 to 2 weeks depending of circumstances of the exchange. Our children are all grown up and have their own families. Usually we travel alone. But we would also like to try bring some of our grandchildren or maybe receive their mom and dad also as guests.

Lifestyle

The weather in Denmark is a big issue. We cannot really be sure of anything. Sometimes the summer is changing between very nice and warm and quite cold and windy. The two last years we had tremendous summers. 2012 was a very cold and wet summer.
But as you can see in summertime both we and the grandchildren have a lot of fun fishing for snails and funny bugs in our gardenpond.
In the garden is a 2 storey hut-in-a-tree, and also a shelter you can use for sleeping outside in the light nordic summernights. In front of the shelter is a fireplace and we have gear for open air fire-cooking.
Just 200 m down the road across a small creek live our neighbours, who have a lot of horses and do riding for disabled people. They will gladly arrange riding for you in the landscape.
I Gerda like a lot to make bicycle rides in the area. And we like to go deer watching on a heather in a Reservate not very far from here. And of course go to the West Coast, which is always a dramatic experience, no matter how the weather is.
