Our Neighbourhood

Pori is a small (~80 000) city in a west coast of Finland. Especially in summer time Pori is an active culture city with many interesting museums. In july 2012 here is the biggest jazz festival in whole Finland. If you want to sunbathe or surf, you should go to Yyteri beaches, only 15km from home. You can go to picnic, huge playground or swim in Kirjurinluoto-park (~0,5km from city). For outdoor activities you should go to Isomäki where you can hike, bike or swim, ~5km from home. In Reposaari ( you can see traditional fisherman village, old houses and church and beautiful landscape. Near Pori in Merikarvia there is Oura archipelago, ascetic and beautiful area. In river Merikarvia you can find one of the best fly fishing places in southern Finland.
Turku is ~140km south from Pori. It is bigger and older city than Pori, located in coast. There are e.g. old castle Turunlinna, boat connections to Sweden, different kind of museums  and airport. If you are interested in rock festivals, there is RuisRock festival july 2010. In neighbour city Naantali you can find Moominworld and Villa Kultaranta, president's summer place.
Tampere is ~115km east from Pori. much bigger than Pori. There are one of the biggest adventure park of Finland Särkänniemi, airport, museums, lake cruises... lot of things to do and see.
Helsinki ~240km south-east from Pori, capital of Finland. Biggest city in Finland with lot of to see. Amusement park Linnanmäki, Korkeasaari zoo, science center Heureka, Suomenlinna castle...
How to get here. Cheap flight companies Blue1 and Ryan air fly to Tampere, Turku and Vaasa (~200km from Pori). Or all biggest flight companies will arrive in Helsinki.
