About Me
In July 2005 I retired as Head Teacher of a local Primary School and am now free to pursue my ambition to travel extensively.
I live alone as my three children have all "flown the nest" and so I am able to travel at quite short notice.
Sometimes I bring a friend who does not live with me if she can arrange her holidays to match mine!
During my spells with Intervac I have enjoyed exchanges to USA, New Zealand, France, Holland and Ireland. The USA is my favourite destination but I am very open minded and will consider all offers.....nothing ventured, nothing gained!
I have a fairly wide range of interests. Obviously travel is important; I love to explore other countries and cultures. Sport and the Arts give a broad brush stroke to my other interests.
Visiting galleries is a real pleasure and, in the evening, a trip to the theatre to see ballet, opera or a play is always special.
I play bridge (not to a high standard!) at a couple of local clubs and with friends, socially.
Where I live
I live in Southsea which is the seaside resort of the city of Portsmouth.
My house is compact, cosy and furnished in a modern style and can accommodate three people. Upstairs there is a new shower room with a delightful power shower, (please note, it is a shower room and does not have a bath!) and two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed and lots of fitted wardrobe and cupboard space. The second bedroom has a single bed . The house has wi-fi broadband and available for guest use with your laptop or tablet computer. The lounge has a sofa which can be converted into a double bed for extra guests.
Lidiard Gardens is less than ten minutes walk from the sea and is in a very quiet neighbourhood. It's a 'No Through Road' which means that there is very light traffic flow.
My car is a low mileage Ford Focus and is only available if I am able to use your car.
For more information try the following websites.
www.visitportsmouth.co.uk will give you a flavour of Portsmouth as a city and a resort.
www.thenewforest.co.uk The New Forest is about 30 miles from Portsmouth and is worth a visit.
www.invectis.co.uk Click on Isle of Wight nostalgia for a great gallery of photos. There are three way to reach the island, car ferry (expensive) or by passenger catamaran or hovercraft. The island is beautiful and appears to be trapped in a 1950s time warp. Charming.
www.brittany-ferries.co.uk For anyone who fancies a trip to France. Ferries go from Portsmouth to Caen, Cherbourg and St Malo. The site is very good for selecting a destination.
www.english-heritage.org.uk is the place to visit for anyone into historical buildings, there are hundreds to choose from all within easy travelling distance.
www.londontourist.org London is only 70 miles from Portsmouth and is easily reached by train. The rail service is excellent with two or three trains every hour from early morning to late at night.
