country house in Tuscania, province of Viterbo (Latium)

the house is in the province of Viterbo, about 90 kms north of Rome. Quiet setting. The area ( called Tuscia in memory of the Etruscans, "tusci" is the name the Romans gave to the Etruscans, the mysterious people predominant in Central Italy, before the rise of Roman power (the name of the region "Tuscany" - "Toscana " in Italian- has the same origin) lays between Latium and Tuscany and is rich in history, art and archeology. Beach at about 20 kms. Bolsena Lake at about 20 kms. Car essential. Tuscania and Tarquinia are the nearest towns, both ancient Etruscan centers, both at about 12 kms from the house, with first class museums and archeological sites but also very good for shopping and restaurants. Around the house there is the garden with trees and lawn, and a pergola or a sunshade made with wine leaves & grapes, very convenient in spring ( see picture) and summer for outdoors meals (with fine weather). No (very) small children,no pets,no smokers (inside,of course). I am a retired journalist and a widower, I'll travel alone or with another adult.
For a presentation (in English) of Tuscania go to the site MINOR SIGHTS.

About Our Family

I am Giancarlo, a retired journalist,a widower,I have two daughters,Sara ,who lives and works in Brussels, and Marta,a translator, who lives in Rome. I own this house since 1972,it formerly belonged to the local administration of the province of
Viterbo and was used by "cantonieri" a corps of guardians who lived in the countryside and were responsible for the care of local roads. The house was built in the first decade of last century. It was sold at a public auction.
