Lovely, flat in Strängnäs, Sweden available for exchanges throughout the year, both simultaneous (symetric) exchanges as well as split-time (asymetric) exchanges

The picturesque, little town of Strängnäs lies on Lake Mälaren and is approximately 50 min by train from Sweden's beautiful capital city Stockholm. Strängnäs has about 12,000 inhabitants and during the summer there is quite a bit of tourist activity at the cozy little harbour which is about a ten minute walk from our home. Despite being so close to the centre of town and harbour, the area where the house is situated is quiet. Swimming in the lake is also just a ten minute walk away. Swedish summer days are very long and taking a dip after late into the evening is not uncommon.
Choose to sit on our balcony in the afternoon sun and enjoy the very pretty view of Lake Mälaren if you feel like taking it easy with your favourite book, or explore Strängnäs which has been populated since the iron age when there were no roads, and the numerous waterways were the primary methods of transport.
Sweden is sparsely populated so nature is always close at hand and Strängnäs has many pretty paths through the forest. Naturally, walking along the shore of Lake Mälaren is always fully possible. Bicycling on the numerous small roads around Strängnäs is also a pleasure.

About Our Family

Barry and Ninna like to explore and have a close relationship to the outdoors. Our children are grown so we are enjoying this phase in life and the extra freedom it gives us. We like travelling, meeting new and interesting people and learning about different cultures. Ninna is Swedish and Barry is American though he has lived in Sweden for 25 years.
We have three female cats, Molly(born 2013) and Sally(2018) and Ronja(2021). Ronja is like a living soft toy and likes to be close. What we actually do with the cats, if we exchange houses with you, is something that we can discuss.

Lifestyle

We are both physically and mentally active and love the outdoors as said above. We are especially interested in personal development, other cultures and enjoy preparing food from the world over. Ninna is involved in yoga and meditation. Both of us are avid readers.

Barry is currently working in the translation industry with various phases in process, but also has extensive experience in the adult world of language teaching gained through over 20 years of leading English for Special Purposes (business and public sector) courses. He also leads seminars on the development of Intercultural Competence. He even took a dip into the compulsory school world and taught classes from 5th to 9th grade.
Ninna has extensive experience in the field of employment; currently as a Supported Employment Specialist at the Swedish Employment Service but also previously as a specialist in many other areas regarding reintroducing individuals with special needs back into the job market.
