A garden oasis with spacious rooms close to town and near to sights and London trains.

Recently renovated with open plan reception rooms leading onto a lovely secluded garden and spacious patio. There is a ground floor guest room with private access if required and plenty of space on the drive as well as a large additional garden at the front of the house. (Secluded from the road.) Despite feeling tucked away we are only ten minutes walk from all the amenities of town and 15 minutes drive from Chippenham station which provides quick access to the cities of Bath, Bristol and London. Nearby are major historical locations such as Stonehenge, Salisbury, Bath and Avebury.

About the neighborhood

The street is quiet with very friendly neighbours and is very close to the main shopping area. Calne has several supermarkets and the usual shops but also some lovely cafes and independent businesses. There are various community events during the summer months such as the carnival and Food fair as well as the October arts festival; Calnefest and the winter lights celebration in November. Just outside of town in some stunning countryside we have several charming pubs that serve fantastic local food with great views.

Retired teachers who love to host and travel; discovering culture and history and languages.

We love the home that we have worked on over the last five years which is perfectly nestled in a small, rural. market town but close to great historical sites and cities alike. Now that our children are grown up and settled and with our retirement from teaching, we are very excited about the prospect of travelling more and meeting new people. At home we like to meet up with friends, indulge our love of history (We were primary and maths teachers) and have also enjoyed hosting international students. In our travels we've always tried to meet local people and learn new languages (At least a little) rather than just being a tourist. We have always hoped that our retirement we allow us to share our home with others, welcoming them to our area and continue explore other places too. We recently said goodbye to our dear dog, Aggie and we know that our collie, Fen is also quite elderly now. She is still very happy and hopefully we can enjoy more time with her yet, but she spends her days sleeping and enjoying the garden now. We also have a large pond with Koi carp that help to make the garden a really relaxing place to be. From July our lifestyle will probably feel quite different from the busy teaching schedule that we have now but I will look forward to continuing my singing and Damon will be starting lots of new projects that he's planned already and we both love our garden too.
