Cityhome in Bruges BE, Belgium

Dear Intervac friends,

Marc (67 ) and I ( 63) live in Bruges, the Venice of the North 😉 .

We live in the center of Bruges not far away (10') to the touristic area which we call " Golden Triangle " of our beautiful town. Our street is quiet and nearby a green foot path and bikeway all around Bruges. ( Vestingen )
Within 10 minutes walking you will find essential shops (Butcher, Bakery, Zero Waste Bio Shop and a Grocery) and two Supermarkets ( Delhaize Park en Co-Markt)

Kind regards,

Michèle and Marc

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Oostende - 32 km

Bruges is a famous town in the west of Flanders regio. Bruges is partly encircled by the big canal Gent-Brugge -Oostende.
The inner city has some small canals (de reien) which can be visited in small boat. Last season Bruges started her boat-tours with some electric boats. These boats are more silently than the motor-boats.
You have also a possibility to have a City-tour with carriage or even having a tour on a Rickshaw.
When the weather is not famous you can visit several museums in town.

We live in "The egg of Bruges"; Het ei van Brugge . ( map; cfr photo of our dining room )
The inner part of Bruges can be visited just by walking.
Although you also can take a bus to the more commercial center of the town. Within 5 minutes walking from our home you'll find a bus-stop nearby in the ' Langestraat' next to the "Molenbrug". Paying Line 1; AZ St Jan ( Hospital of Bruges ) and Paying Line 2; Louis Coiseau Kaai ( Police Office ) Both are driving through the town. Bruges started also with a "free" small electric city bus that stops on several stopping-places in the center of Bruges

It is about 30 minutes ( +- 25 kilometers driving by car) to the Belgian coast( the Northsea coast). But there are regular trains from Bruges to Blankenberge ( most popular coast town but very bustly ) Knokke, Zeebrugge and Oostende.
But we prefer De Haan (20 km with car) or 1 hour with the bus. No high apartment buildings and sun on the dike.

Bruges promoted her town with a trailer( promotion film) about Bruges and her environment:

About Our Family

Marc is 66 and is retired.
Michèle  is 63 and is retired.

Together we have 6 children;
Marc: Karel, Leen, Tim and Lies.
Michèle: Isabelle and Christophe.
They all live on their own .
We traveling just the two of us .

Aagje, our female cat is 15 years old. She is used to live inside ( most of the time). In summer she also likes to be outside when the weather is sunny and dry. She doesn't like the rain. She has her own 'rest' places in our home .

Unfortunately we have no supplies and play things for small children. Although teen-agers and young-adults are of course welcome. Please notice that we only have our master bedroom kingsize bed (2x90) and the guest room with a kingsize bed ( 2x90) as sleeping places.
